Black knitwear

Black is the shortcut, and in knitwear it is also the hardest colour to photograph: a cable pattern disappears into it and reappears in daylight. If the stitch is the reason you want the piece, a lighter shade shows it.

It is also the colour that shows lint and pet hair first. A black chunky knit needs a lint brush the way a white shirt needs a stain stick.

Every piece on this page states the colour the maker gave it. Where two names sit close enough to argue about, the swatch beside the family is our approximation and the name under the garment is theirs.
